Music & Dance Programs

What we offer:

In-school programs
After-school programs
Private classes
Group ensembles
Interactive assemblies
Educational community events

We make music and dance education relevant, inclusive and accessible through classical and intercultural art forms that make connections between the performing arts and the overall development of students.

School Programs

Casita de las Artes offers school-based programs, designed to fit the students’ age, interests, and abilities. These programs enrich the students’ music and/or dance experiences and inspire them to further pursue their arts education and artistic expressions. The curriculum is cross-cultural and fulfills the national arts standards for performing arts education. Most schools opt for a culminating public performance where students can celebrate their accomplishments before an audience of family and friends.

Private Classes

Casita de las Artes offers weekly/monthly private instruction in various musical instruments and artistic genres. Students study with instructors who are professionals in their fields and trained educators. There are performance opportunities throughout the year at our annual recital and various community celebrations.  Our learning environment helps students find their voice, build confidence, and develop skills to activate their potential. We currently offer private lessons in:
Violin, guitar, vihuela, guitarron, trumpet, ukulele, clarinet, saxophone, bass guitar, voice, jarana jarocha, piano, and music theory/composition.

Assemblies and Educational Events

For libraries, schools, community centers, and other educational settings we offer artistic storytelling and pedagogic concerts
in Spanish & English, using song, dance, history, and a variety of musical instruments from Mexican, Californian, Japanese & Latin American cultures. All performances encourage participation, foster cultural understanding through personal connections, can be bilingual, and serve multigenerational audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Casita de las Artes also provides community-based song-writing workshops and participatory lecture-demonstrations that focus on a song, dance or instrumentation from various regions of Mexico. Workshops are presented in a range of formats, from one hour, one day, or to a series of days, at both an introductory and advanced level.
